Magic Cards

(The following are more for me to keep track than for you… obviously you don’t really care how much I workout each weekend.)

Thursday’s workout:  1 mile run before early morning body pump

Friday’s workout:  6 mile run, 52.5 minutes

Saturday’s workout:  4 mile run, 35 minutes plus 3+ mile walk with mi madre

(ended with  27  miles run this week)

Sunday’s workout: 5 mile run, 39.5 minutes

My weekend workouts were less than impressive, but I’m calling it a win that I even made it to the gym both days.  I’m normally a morning workout-er, especially on the weekends (and  by morning, I mean before noon), but we had so many errands and stuff, that the fave and I didn’t even get to the gym before 5 both days, so because I went (despite not really wanting to), I was rewarded with margherita pizza last night.

I know, good food choice Kathleen.

I did not do much of anything this weekend.  I watched a lot of Breaking Bad, did a lot of eating and a loooooooooooot of lamination cutting.

My mom came in town for a wedding Friday night, so Saturday morning we took advantage of the beautiful weather to walk around the neighborhood.  We spent the majority of the morning looking for used book stores that doesn’t specialize in old or weird books, but after 5 failed attempts, we decided it was time to call it quits.  3 of the 5 we went to were closed, and the other two were just… different.

I did find a place where I can buy all my witchcraft books though.  Time to get out those magic cards from 6th grade.

Sunday was spent running errands… mainly at the outlets in Williamsburg.  So, not really errands per say,  but shopping happened.

I also spent much time cutting out my cute little laminated ABC and color people that finally came in last week.   They’re all really, really cute (at least I think so), except for this one.

The th sound:

th 2 things that bother me about this:

  • The thumb is super creepy.  Couldn’t they have chosen something else?
  • Why is his stomach showing?  None of the other kids are showing their midsection.  Everyone else is properly covered.  I don’t want my kids to think this is okay and come to school in shirts like I wore in college.

That’s going to bother me all year.

Time to start another week!  Crossing my fingers that all my Vitamin C supplementing will keep the colds at bay!

Do you have anything fun going on this week?

We have half day Wednesday… I mean, the kids leave early and I still have to work all afternoon, but at least it’s switched up a little bit!

Late on a Monday.

Saturday’s workout:  5 mile run, 15 minutes bike, abs

Ended the week with 30 miles… hit my goal!

Sunday’s workout:  7 mile run, abs

Yesterday I headed to the gym to get my run on.  I had downloaded Wanderlust on my Kindle (it’s only 99 cents on Amazon instant video right now!), so I had something to watch while running.

In the first 15 minutes the couple (Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd) encounters a crazy nudist.  I almost fell off the treadmill I was laughing so hard.  It was really embarrassing, especially since the girl right next to me looked like she’d never smiled in her life.

nudist wanderlust

Anyway, I recommend watching it… maybe not on a treadmill, though!

Today is just third to last Monday I have before going back to work full time.  So, that being said, I’m going to sit on the couch, maybe take a nap, and live it up!

How is your Monday going so far?

So far I’ve slept in, gone to the gym and grocery, and showered.  Production at it’s finest!

Back to blonde!

It’s onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnly Wednesday.   Ugh.

Tuesday’s workout: 3.5 mile run while watching 16 & Pregnant:  Where are they now? (mostly in jail) and 30 mindless minutes on the elliptical.

So yesterday I went to get my hair highlighted.  For the second time in a week.

Back story:  I’d been going to the same girl for a few years now and I LOVE her.  I love her so much that I almost cried when I found out she didn’t work at my place anymore and they wouldn’t tell me where she went.  I contemplated calling all of the other salons in the area to see if I could find her I love her that much.

Except I don’t know her last name.

And according to Google there are 42 salons within a mile of my house (and my salon).

Soooooooo that could prove to be a waste of time.

I did a bunch (read= a creepy amount) of detective work/ stalking to try and find her but no dice.  I even looked up her mom’s school (where she used to work) to find last names of teachers to try and find her on Facebook.

I know, this is getting slightly ridiculous.  And I didn’t even find her.

HOW CAN I FIND HER?

Back to the current story:  Last week I went to the same salon I typically go to but to a new girl.  She’s reeeeally nice but she didn’t do a fantastic job on highlighting my hair (the first time, at least).

It didn’t even look like I had anything done, and I believe someone last weekend told me I looked like I had gotten the ombre look.

drew barrymore ombre

Nope.  I paid money for highlights. two days ago.  Hmm.

Sooooooooo I went back today and got them done for real.  It finally looks like I have no roots and that I’m a natural blonde (at least for a couple of weeks until it grows out again).

hair

I’ve decided that I now like my new girl and since we are on the same page when it comes to blonde-ness, so I’ll be going back.

But I miss Brittany.

I’m pathetic.

Speaking of pathetic, last night the fave had dinner with someone from work, so I was on my own.  I hate cooking just myself because sometimes it seems like a waste to make such a mess for one person.

So, I made this.

trader joes mac cals

The stats aren’t too bad, right?

Plus, it was soooooooooo good.  And, I tried to make it just slightly better with cucumber and tomatoes…

Have you ever tried TJ’s macaroni and cheese?

Any advice on finding my old hair stylist?

I’ve been busy.

This past weekend I headed to Connecticut for the fave’s nephew’s christening.  We got back Monday afternoon, headed to kickball, and crashed.

Needless to say, I’m tired.  Traveling makes me stressed and irritable and sleepy.

Luckily, the weather was gorgeous, the christening went off without a hitch, and although it was a very busy and fast weekend, we had fun with the fave’s family.

Oh, and I got my first iced coffee of the year.

Anyway, like I mentioned last week, I spent most of the week working on a secret project for the fave, who was at training for work all week in Michigan.

I decided that since his office was “the pit where everything that doesn’t have a home seems to end up” it needed a little facelift.  I’m sparing you (and him) of the before pictures, mainly because I didn’t take any good ones but also because it was a bit embarrassing.

Here are the after:

office 1q

office 2

office 3

office 4            office 5

What I did:

  • Painted the walls a light blue (Dewdrop- Valspar from Lowes)— They were an old peachy pink color.
  • Hung pictures, including a bunch of old (like 1940’s) 3×5 postcards of Richmond landmarks that my dad found at a garage sale a long time ago.  They’re beautiful little drawings of the monuments, U of R, and famous older buildings around town.
  • Hung a new ceiling fan- Okay, I didn’t actually do the hanging (thank God for Dru and Toast), but I picked out and purchased a new one.  I also drank margs and provided moral support while it was being hung.  This was a feat in itself- 100 year old homes are not wired to use modern fans, so it took for-ev-er.
  • Bought  new rug (looooooooove Garden Ridge!), which I thought the fave would find too busy, but he ended up really liking it a lot.
  • Rearranged all the furniture—Next up is a new desk, but that’s out of my teacher budget.

It was definitely a four day project, the biggest part being the painting (which I decided I hated about 20 minutes in) and changing the ceiling fan.

Whew.  I’m tired just thinking about all the work it took to get the office presentable.  I also am shocked I was able to keep a secret from the fave for almost a week.  I am like a talking bird when it comes to surprises… I caaaaaaaaaannot keep them.

Anyway, last night Dicken Cider had it’s fourth kickball game of the season, which resulted in our fourth win.  It was a close game, but we pulled through.

I was supposed to mention that I had to jump the chain link fence in the ghetto to get a foul ball four different times, but unfortunately I’m not sure how to make that funny.  I hooked a foot and hopped on over, no biggie coming from a girl who climbed many a chain link fences in her heyday… thanks, mom and dad for never getting rid of that sucker.  Otherwise Dicken Cider might have been in a bad spot last night.

chain link fence

There you go.  Funny.

How much do you love (or hate) painting?

I always think I love painting… and then I start painting, remember why I hate it, and it ends up being a terrible experience.  Every.time.

Is anyone else a product of a home with chain link fences?

Summer Day 1

Monday’s workout:  5 mile run, 25 minutes on elliptical, ab workout

The run was uneventful.  I ran the mile to and from the gym, and three miles on the ol treadmill.  My legs felt great today and I wasn’t originally planning on running more than the miles to/ from the gym, but I felt good so I kept going for a little longer.  I still hate the elliptical but I managed 25 minutes without my feet falling asleep, so I’ll call it a win.

Yesterday morning I slept in… okay I slept until 7, but I laid in bed until 8 snuggling with Derby.

morning1

She loves when I take pictures with a flash right in her face.  L-O-V-E-S  it.

After my workout I came home to make lunch- a different concept for me since I usually just throw whatever I can find into my bag on the way out each morning.

I ended up making a boring salad, but in the process I found the ugly carrot! (My life is SO exciting.)

ugly carrot

You know, like in Bridesmaids when Annie finds the ugly carrot?

No?

According to cutie Chris O’Dowd, the ugly carrot is the lucky carrot.

I’m still waiting on that luck to happen…

The rest of my first day of summer was being lazy.  I did run 2 errands on my list just so I felt productive for leaving the house, buuuuuuuuut other than that, Bravo and I had a fine day of relaxing.

Today’s goals are:  Pump class, lunch with Dru, kickball game… eek.  Busy day.

Do you ever get the ugly carrot?

What’s your favorite scene in Bridesmaids?

Mine is definitely when Kristin Wiig is driving trying to get Rhodes’ attention.  The poop in the street scene is a close second…. and it’s not first mainly because it’s a ‘been there’ type of feeling, and it might just be my worst nightmare.
